ELECTION RESULTS: With around 50% of the ballots counted as of 6pm November 5th, I am currently trailing. I am hopeful that late voting and mail in ballots will swing the election.

What is clear, however, is that Portland’s Small Donor Election system continues to empower special interests, who spent hundreds of thousands on their preferred candidates and saw their candidates overwhelmingly in the lead throughout the City.

Stay tuned and thank you for your support. Rex

REX BURKHOLDER for
PORTLAND CITY COUNCIL, DIST. 3

The Vision We Want, The Experience We Need

Rex really understands the challenges faced by immigrants, refugees, and other people of color. He is a strong ally on the issues impacting our community. He really does the work to create a more just and inclusive Oregon.
— Senator Kayse Jama
Rex is an environmental champion from the core. But, he’s more. He cares as deeply about people as he loves the trees and birds. He will bring a strong concern for social justice along with his passion for nature to the City Council.
— Nick Hardigg, former Executive Director, Portland Audubon
Rex has always been a passionate supporter of education and the next generation. His powerful and effective leadership restored Outdoor School for all Oregon kids. He is great at building coalitions and working with others to get good things done. He also encouraged and supported me when I first considered running for office.
— Helen Ying, Director, Multnomah Education Service District

District 3 is Teal! (mostly SE PDX… and a bit of NE). Check your address at PortlandMaps.com

A Vision for Portland

Portland is once again at a crossroads, struggling to fulfill our vision of being the most livable city in America. The last few years of pandemic, protest, and increasing inequality have been punishing.

National and global trends often whipsaw Oregon, but we’ve always strived to be more than a third-tier city – to innovate and create a place that is the envy of others. passionate and committed grassroots leaders fought for safer streets, planted trees and saved nature, and stood against racism to create a more inclusive, green, and just City.

And it worked!

We consistently attracted (and kept home) the young, educated, and enthusiastic who created a prosperous, quirky, inclusive, and lively civic culture.

Now is the time to tackle today’s tough problems. Working together, I know we can succeed.

Committed To Our Community

In my 45+ years in Portland, I’ve worked with and learned from many great leaders. The biggest takeaway for me is that we never accomplish anything alone. Progress is only possible with the support, advice, encouragement, and wisdom of others. All I’ve accomplished – launching the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, reforming regional and state transportation policy, Winning Outdoor School for All funding in 2016, and everything else, was only possible with the support of people like you.

Now, as I run for a seat on the new City Council, I am once again turning to you for your support. You are critical to the success of our City. Will you join me in creating the future we all deserve?
